Flapjacks, the sweet and satisfying treat, are loved by EVERYONE for their simplicity and deliciousness. Perfect for when you need to produce a show stopping snack/dessert its easy and quick yet seems like you are super put together. Here's a classic recipe for the perfect flapjacks:

Ingredients:

  • 200g (1 cup) unsalted butter

  • 200g (1 cup) golden syrup or honey

  • 200g (1 cup) brown sugar

  • 400g (4 cups) oats

  • Optional: add-ins such as dried fruits, nuts, chocolate chips, or seeds for extra flavour and texture. (chocolate chips and raisins are the best!!!)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.

  3. Once the butter is melted, add the golden syrup (or honey) and brown sugar to the saucepan. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and the sugar has dissolved completely. Be careful not to let the mixture boil.

  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the oats until they are well coated with the butter-sugar mixture. If you're adding any optional ingredients, fold them in at this stage.

  5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking tray and use the back of a spoon or spatula to spread it evenly, pressing it down firmly to compact it.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the flapjacks are golden brown on top.

  7. Remove the tray from the oven and allow the flapjacks to cool completely in the tray before cutting them into squares or bars.

  8. Once cooled, carefully cut the flapjacks into your desired size and shape.

  9. Enjoy your perfect flapjacks as a delicious snack or dessert!

These flapjacks can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, although they're so delicious they might not last that long!

WARNING: People will ask you to keep making them so beware that you have the time to make them often (;
